Do This To Shoot The Ball Straighter!
I do pro hop all the time it is not jumping into a stop
Different ways to do it!
@@petemaunderhoops I can very easily demonstrate a jump stop. Nobody is jumping. I am simply stopping on two feet. Up and down have always been a rule.

hop step?
Bro caves
hi coach.. on my way to driving to the rim, when is the best time to look onto the rim? i used to look down and when going up thats the time i look up.. and imissed shots
Hey! Thanks for the question. It really depends on the situation - if you're wide open like a 1 on 0 fast break then you might be able to get your eyes up early - but most of the time in the game when you drive, you'll need to be looking around at defenders and teammates to make the decision about when, how and if you are actually going to finish. And then at the last second, get your eyes on the rim. I think the key thing is to make sure that when you PRACTICE finishing, you don't get your eyes on the rim early, and practice the skill of finding the rim at the last second, because that's what will likely happen in the game.
@@petemaunderhoops thank you so much coach.. I agree. need more practice and train my eyes on that situation..🤍
Boo
Great tut
Can we step through after a successful pro hop ?
Technically it depends on when you gather the ball - if you gather it while you're in the air, you've now got either foot to pivot on when you land. However, I've still seen this called a travel many times, so I don't think the risk is worth it. My suggestion would be not to pivot after a pro-hop based on how it is called.
P R O M O S M
good work coach
Teach to go low. A good defender could easily take the ball from him.
I think the body protects the ball pretty well on this move? But yes, we did emphasise low shoulder on the actual spin/drive.
Tuff
Nah bro is the mayor of Yapperville
Had to hit the word quota
Bro is Yapanese
Better off to get the player to understand the why and how to coach themselves. Lets them coach themselves.
I always feel like I’m “catapulting” the ball when my arm finishes low like you described. And when I finish smooth and high I call it a “trebuchet” lol
Good job coach
Thank you!
Offense * defense * cmon bro
So if i do this... im gonna be lebron?
Absolutely. Just do this drill once and you’ll be the KING! 😁
Well taught.
Thank you! Appreciate that 🙂
Wasn’t that 3 steps after a picked up the ball or….
It has changed a little bit recently, but I think you would still always get away with that kind of drive. Worldwide now there is what is called a zero step, which means that if you pick up the ball with a foot still on the ground (while moving) that does not count as your first step (for instance, in my demo, my right foot does not count as my first step so I can then go left and right after that pick up.
wtf happened to "traveling" or am i just really out of touch with the rules of this game lol

Keep it up keep doing what you’re doing.
Always!
Awesome thought, but don't Carry while dribbling
He is jumping into the stop. Which is a travel. He needs learn to stop on two feet versus jumping into the stop
Gather step?
like your going to shoot. but instead if you land without the ball leaving your hands it is also considered traveling
Good vid! What’s this place called?
Howdy 🙂 It's our private facility - No Limits Basketball in Melbourne, Australia.

This is not "effortless" hes shooting from hebelow his waist. Thats terrible training
We can't work in everything at once! If everything about a player's shot isn't perfect, does that make it terrible training? (and for reference, Shawn in this video routinely shoots above 70-80% in his shooting workouts)
After a pro hop, you cannot pivot at all…
Hey! That was the point of this video. By making the pick up loud and clear when it happens, you will be sure to avoid a travel call - because if you pick the ball up in mid-air and then land on two feet, you definitely are allowed to pivot from there. (Compared to picking up the ball while your foot is still on ground and THEN jumping and landing on two feet)
That wasn’t a pro hop that was a jumpstop for step 1. A pro hop is a jumpstop on step 2

Appreciate the support!
What’s stoping me from closing in before he does the crossover
The threat of the strong side drive and shifting in that direction is what would open up the crossover. Nothing works every time though, that’s why we work on different options and reads.
I uses to do no limits
Heck yes!
Change of pace, height, and direction
Normally don’t comment but damn that was nice by kids… second may be a travel but still good
These two get after it! And have some very nice moves! Appreciate the comment.

That would be assuming we’re shooting free throws 😉

That’s a travel😂
It’s a breakdown drill……….
It’s not
I still managed to get it in with my first jump shot tho
That's me
That is a travel. You cannot lift your pivot foot to start a dribble
You're 100% right by the rule book, however open step travels like this NEVER get called in Australia (and most of the world) as long as they are smooth. And if it doesn't get called a travel, it "isn't" a travel as far as a player should be concerned.
I like that. Good stuff
Thanks Nate! Appreciate it :)
